Bantam Majors go perfect 5-0-0 to claim Lobsterfest Championship Title!

The Bantam Majors were crowned Champions at the 2015 Ocean State Lobsterfest Tournament in the Bantam Westerly (2001) division this past weekend in Cranston, RI! The team impressed everyone they played and defeated many strong programs en route to a Championship title!

On Friday, the Bantam Majors cruised to a 10-0 win over the Providence Jr. Friars. In Friday afternoon's tilt, the Walpole Express 01 Premier team gave the 'Cats a run but it wasn't enough as they scored late to take a 5-4 win! On Saturday, the 'Cats defeated a short benched team, NJ Freeze 01 Blue, 9-0. Finally in Sunday morning's last preliminary game, the 'Cats won 8-1 over a strong hearted NJ Freeze 01 Grey team.

The #1 seeded 'Cats took on the #2 seeded Walpole Express in the Championship Game. For the last tournament game of the year, the game did nothing less than impress all fans who stayed to watch the finale. The 'Cats scored early in the 1st, but were complacent for rest of the game. Walpole would tie things up at one a piece, with 6 minutes left in the 2nd period. Back-and-forth action would end in a 1-1 tie. SHOOT-OUT TIME! With over 30 saves already, goaltender Tyler Vosinek impressed everyone. After 3 shooters, the 'Cats and Walpole were tied at 0-0. The 'Cats would open the scoring in the 4th round, but Walpole came back to tie it up 1-1. In the last shooter of the preliminary shoot-out, the 'Cats scored to take a 2-1 lead. It was all up to Tyler Vosinek, and Vosinek shut the door to secure the win! Tyler Vosinek also received Tournament MVP as he was incredible in the net all weekend for the Bantam Majors.

Head Coach Mike Smith takes home 2 Championships. One a piece with his Squirt Minors and Bantam Majors. Well done to the coaches: Mike Smith, Jim Damren, and George Cairns, as well as the entire team on a great weekend of hockey!
