The Northern Vermont Wildcats sent their 2004 Premier, 2005 Premier, and 2006 Premier teams to the North American Summer AAA Championships Tournament in Marlboro, MA this past weekend. All teams had a few new recruits on them, as well as veteran players. All three teams looked to end their respective seasons on a strong note, and they did just that!
The 2004 Premier team (loaded with many new 2005 birth year recruits) battled hard lost 2- 2 goal games. They defeated the CT Whales 04 team on Sunday in their Playoff Game, 4-2, to cap off a great weekend of hockey! We are proud of how well a young team battled hard all weekend!
The 2005 Premier team kept up their winning ways. Before the tournament, the team had an incredible record of 11-1-1, with their only loss coming to a NVW team: the Peewee Elite team in the Lobsterfest Championship Game. The team kept on performing well as they defeated the Lovell Tropics AAA 05 team: 5-2 and the CT Mongoose: 10-1 in the preliminary round. They fell to the Blue Chip Selects 05 AAA team: 3-2 in game 2. The team finished with a 2-1-0 record in the preliminary round, but because the team focused on not giving up many goals, earned the #1 seed heading into the Playoff Round. They faced off against the #4 seeded CT Mongoose and cruised to a 7-1 win to earn a spot in the finals against the Tropics, again. A back-and-forth defensive minded game ended with the 'Cats pulling out a 7-4 win over a talented Tropics team. Congrats to the players on an incredible finale weekend for the team and one last tournament championship fo the year! Also, congrats to coaches Anthony Langevin, Henri Langevin, and Cole Godfrey as well! The team finishes with a 15-2-1 on the season, with 3 tournament championships and a runner-up finish! Well done!
