U12s went 4-0-0 en route to the Championship title

The Northern Vermont Wildcats kicked off their season sending their U14 and U12 teams to the Western Mass Spring Meltdown, in Western Massachusetts this past weekend. Both teams went a perfect 4-0-0 and won their Divisional Championships!

The U12 team kicked off the tournament with a dominating 10-2 win over the New Jersey Devils, on Friday night. Saturday morning saw a good test against the Western Mass Wizards and the team would prevail with a 5-0 win. Saturday night, the team faced off against the Central VT Black Bears. A back-and-forth affair would lead the 'Cats to a 9-4 win and the #1 seed heading into the Championship Game Sunday afternoon.

The #1 seeded U12s would take on the #2 seeded Western Mass Wizards for the Championship. The Wizards would quickly go up 2-0 but the 'Cats would score 3 unanswered to lead 3-2 after the 1st half. The Wizards would go up 5-4 with just under 5 minutes left in the game. A determined Navy and Gold squad would score with 1:52 left in regulation to tie the game 5-5. With 0:25 left in the game, the U12s would pop in the eventual game winner and take home a 6-5 Championship victory. What a thriller to start the season.
