Bantam Majors went 6-0-0 and captured the Tournament Title! The Bantam Majors won the New England Classic Championships, this past weekend in Marlboro, MA with a 3-2 thrilling win in double overtime! Braylen Parent (MVU) scored the game winner, from Jack Clarner (Kimball Union Academy).
Throughout the weekend, the Bantam Majors went 6-0-0 en route to the Championship title. They defeated the Ridgefield Seals (West) 7-1 and Ridgefield Seals (East) 5-2 on Friday. Saturday morning would be a test for the 'Cats, but they prevailed to a 4-1 win over the Boston Jr. Eagles. In the final preliminary game of the tournament, the team defeated the Western Mass Bulldogs, 6-2 to stay undefeated after round robin play.
Due to goal differential, the 'Cats snagged the #2 seed out of 8 teams in the tournament, and faced off against a familiar foe, the #3 seeded Boston Jr. Eagles in the Semi-Final Round. A very defensive minded game ended with the 'Cats pulling away to a 3-0 win.
In the Championship Game, the 'Cats faced off against the Wilkes Barre Wings top team in the tournament. A very fast paced back and forth game ended 2-2 after regulation. After no scoring in the 1st overtime and some great saves by Tyler Vosinek (St. Johnsbury Academy), Jack Clarner rushed the puck up the ice and was on a 2-on-1 with Braylen Parent. Clarner faked a shot and slid the puck over to Parent who faked the goalie out and tucked in the puck on his backhand. The stands, players, and coaches went crazy. What a way to cap off a great weekend of Wildcat Hockey!
Congratulations to the Bantam Majors on their Tournament Championship, as well as Coaches Anthony Langevin, George Cairns, and Henri Langevin! Well done, boys!
