Wiegand adds veteran experience as both a Professional Player and stand-out Coach The Northern Vermont Wildcats are thrilled to add Chuck Wiegand as the Associate Head Coach of the 2002 Premier team this Spring and Summer.
Wiegand comes to the program after being drafted #157 in the 8th Round of the National Hockey League (NHL) by the New York Rangers, in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. Wiegand played NCAA Division 1 Men's Ice Hockey for Ferris State University, under the great John Perpich. After Ferris State, Wiegand played 6 years of professional ice hockey in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He suited up for two teams, in the total of six years: the Johnstown Chiefs and the Nashville Knights.
For the past few years, Wiegand has been in the program as a part-time coach. The NVW program is extemely excited to bring in another class act and veteran coach, full-time into the program. He will join current Head Coach Mark Murphy and current Assistant Coach Jean Tardif, behind the bench for the squad. The 2002 Premier team is looking extremly strong with talent from all over the Northeastern United States, and mostly from Canada.
