The Mite Elite team upset the top seeded Medford Mustangs, 5-4, to win the Gold! The Northern Vermont Wildcats sent 11 teams to the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, MA this past weekend for the Pepsi Tournament of Champions. The 11 teams played in 8 of the competitive divisions the tournament hosted. 4 teams captured their respective divisions, while 2 finished as division runner-up, 2 finished in 3rd place, 1 finished in 4th place and 2 finished in 5th place out of 8 team divisions.
The Mite Elite team went 3-1-0 throughout the weekend and upset the very talented and #1 seeded Medford Mustangs, 5-4, in the Championship Game!
The 2007 Premier team went 3-0-1 throughout the weekend and defeated a very strong Westchester Sting squad, 5-0 in the Championship Game. The group tied the Sting 4-4 on Friday night but came ready to play in the Championship Game!
The 2001 Premier team went 3-0-1 throughout the weekend and defeated the Mason Dixon Selects: 6-0 in the Championship Game!
The Midget Elite team went 3-0-0 throughout the weekend and defeated the CT Werewolves 10-0 in the Championship Game! The Midget Elite team won 4-3, twice, over the Werewolves and the Mass Jr. Lightning before the finals, but showed up ready to play in the Championship Game!
The Midget Premier (Euro) and 2006 Premier teams took 2nd place in their respective divisions. The Midget Premier Euro team also went 4-1-0 throughout the weekend with new coaches: Nick Skerlick (Lebanon Valley NCAA D3), Cole Godfrey (Lebanon Valley NCAA D3), and Dustin Good (Tilton Prep), before falling to a strong Kuper Academy (Canada) team in the Championship Game. The 2006 Premier team played up in the 05 division all weekend and advanced to the Championship Game against almost all 05s! What a great accomplishment for the team!
The Peewee Elite and Midget Premier (Langevin) teams finsihed 3rd in their divisions. The Peewee Elite team defeated all programs' top teams in the tournament: Somerville, Cardinal Selects, and the Maple City Mayhem before falling to the eventual tournament champions: Mason Dixon Selects, 3-2 in OT in the Semi-Finals. The Midget Premier (Langevin) team lost to the eventual champions, as well, Kuper Academy Kodiaks (Canada): 2-1 in OT in their Semi-Final game.
The Bantam Elite team finished 4th in their division by going 1-1-1 and defeated the Cardinal Selects' top Bantam team: 3-2 in their last preliminary game of the tournament!
The Midget Premier 2 and Squirt Elite teams finished 5th in their divisions out of 8 total teams. Both battled hard and just missed advancing to the Semi-Finals.
Congratulations to all teams on an excellent weekend of Wildcat Hockey! Best of luck to the 2002 Premier, 2003 Premier, 2004 Premier, and 2005 Premier teams next weekend in the Montreal Spring Showdown in Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Next weekend will be ANOTHER STATEMENT WEEKEND!
